How to share your driving licence details with your instructor for insurance purposes.
How learner drivers can share their driving record with their ADI
Head to www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
Enter the driver number and postcode shown on your licence plus your National Insurance number.
Confirm that you have read the privacy notice.
Click on the ‘View Now’ button.
Select the ‘Share your licence information’ tab found in top right of the window.
Click on the ‘Create a Code’ button.
Make a note of the check code which is generated for you – remember it is case sensitive.
Share this check code and the last eight characters of your driving licence number with your ADI so they can view your driving record online.
Remember – the check code is only valid for 72 hours after creation and can only be used once
There is an assisted digital telephone service which is charged at local rate (0300 083 0013), drivers unable to use the View Driving Licence service can call to receive a check code. Alternatively drivers can call DVLA on 0300 790 6801 and leave permission for their driving record to be checked verbally by a nominated person/organisation.Drivers can find their National Insurance number on a payslip, P60 or tax return.
